Week Thirteen – Turkeys

Turkeys are large birds, native to North America and in the wild they live in open forests and spend most of their time foraging.

In the wild they can live up to 15 years old and will fly and run far distances. They are also social animals who would live in small flocks.

It is estimated that 16 million are killed annually in the UK alone, most of which are reared in indoor production systems and will suffer immensely during their short life span from poor welfare conditions and implications from selective breeding.
