12 Aug Open Day: August 2018
OUR OPEN DAY
WHAT A FANTASTIC EVENT
With over 1000 visitors, our August Sanctuary Open Day 2018 was a fantastic event.
Many people travelled from all parts of the country to come and spend the day with us, along with great support from the local community.
A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL
Within an hour the car park was filling up, the rain was not keeping anyone away.
There was an abundance of delicious vegan food, from burgers, mac n cheese, wraps and pizza to luscious cakes, pastries and smooth creamy ice cream.
Gareth Lemon from Cheltenham came and performed two music sessions which gave our day a very relaxed festival feel.
Our children’s area was packed with the youngsters having face painting and taking part in the activities. We named all our 12 new rescued hens with names picked by visitors and their families.
“We all had a great day at the sanctuary. Fantastic vegan food & stalls, & fantastic to see all the lovely animals you have rescued. Such a Lovely place to visit. X”
“We had a fabulous few hours at the sanctuary today. It was great to meet the new residents and see the changes that have taken place since last September! Thanks to everyone involved :)”
“What a beautiful sanctuary, such a clean place which can’t be easy with so many animals. Lovely day, great to see all the animals and chat to likeminded people. Thank you Dean Farm Trust for all you do.”
The residents at Dean Farm as always loved the company, whether it was tummy rubs, ear rubs, pecking at boots, gentle strokes or a kind word; our Donkeys, piggies, hens, bunnies and ponies as always lapped up the attention. Visitors took time to read about the histories of our animals and their companions.
Many of our residents were sponsored on the day which helps enormously with their lifetime care. Our raffle was a great success with prizes that were all donated.
We had over 20 volunteers some had travelled over two hours, giving up their time to support us which was just incredible.
A beautiful day at Dean Farm Sanctuary which we hope everyone enjoyed and took a little piece of compassion away with them.
We received takings on the day of just over £5,000 in total which is fantastic and will help us care for our residents.
Thank you everyone who helped and supported us to make this day happen. XX
